Colorado State senior thrower Loree Smith earned her second All-American award in as many days, finishing second in the weight throw at the NCAA Championship, while sophomore Magnus Lohse was named All-American after finishing fourth in the shot put.
Smith threw 74-3.75, breaking the Colorado State, Mountain West Conference and American Collegiate records, breaking her own record of 73-0.75 from earlier this season. She finishes second behind Candice Scott of Florida, who threw 79-3.75. This is Smith?s fifth All-American award.
Lohse places fourth in the shot put with a throw of 63-11.5, finishing behind Auburn?s Edis Elkasevic, Purdue?s Nedzad Mulabegovic and Arizona?s Sean Shields, finishing just eight inches behind the champion.
The Colorado State track and field team will begin its outdoor season on March 26 with the Rob Upton Invitational, hosted at the Jack Christiansen track on the campus of Colorado State.
