Men's Golf in 12th at Western Intercollegiate

The Colorado State men?s golf team currently sits in a tie for 12th place after the first and second rounds of the 59th annual Western Intercollegiate at the 6,445/Par 70 Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif. The Rams fired an opening round 304 followed by a 297 and sit 19 strokes behind team-leader Oregon.
CSU was led by junior Kevin McAlpine who shot a 77 and 71 to earn a tie for 23rd place. Senior John Hayes carded a two-round 150 and currently resides in a tie for 34th.
Derrick Whiting is in a tie for 43rd place after shooting a two-round 151 and Aaron Weston fired a 76 and 78 to finish in a tie for 61st. Rounding out the Rams scoring was junior Nate Pettitt who carded a two-round 155 to earn a tie for 70th place.
The University of Oregon moved from fifth to first place after the second round with a 582 team total. Host San Jose State, which along with Oregon was one of four schools with the best second-round team score of 289, moved from 14th to seventh place. Cal Poly's J.J. Scurich is the only player under par at two-under 138 and has a two-stroke lead in the 90-player field.
