Men's Golf in 2nd at Irish Spring Invitational

ORLANDO, Florida (March 7, 2005) ? The Colorado State men?s golf team currently reside in 2nd place after the first and second rounds of the Irish Spring Invitational in Orlando, Fla., at the 6,901/Par 72 Mission Inn Resort El Campeon Course. The Rams carded a 585 team score and sit 12 strokes behind team-leader Wichita State.
Kevin McAlpine and Aaron Weston earned a tie for 7th place after firing a two-round 145. McAlpine carded a 72 in the first round and finished the second round with a one-over 73. Weston shot a one-under 71 and a two-over 74 to open tournament play.
Sophomore Derrick Whiting carded a 73 and 75 to earn a tie for 12th place. Lone senior John Hayes fired a 73 and 76 and currently sits in a tie for 15th. Junior Nate Pettitt is in a tie for 22nd after a two-round 151.
Judd Easterling of Wichita State and Andrew Scott of San Diego State share the lead for the individual title with a three-under 141.
The Rams will be back in action tomorrow morning when play for the third and final round begins at 8:00 a.m. with tee time starts on holes No. 1 and No. 10.
