Fans attending Colorado State University's football game Sept. 24 against the University of Nevada will have a chance to donate through the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Director of Athletics Mark Driscoll said today collections will take place at the concession stands located throughout the stadium from the time the gates open 90 minutes before kickoff through the end of halftime. The game begins at 4 p.m. Donations will also be collected in the Ram Zone tent prior to the game.

"The tragedy that struck the Gulf Coast region has affected our entire nation," said Driscoll. "We wanted to provide an opportunity for Ram fans to show their support of everyone touched by this event."

Assisting with collecting the donations will be wives of CSU football coaching staff members and student-athletes from respective sport programs.

CSU officials also said collections will be available during Ag Day activities in the stadium parking lot prior to the game.

Proceeds will be turned over to the American Red Cross to help support relief and recovery efforts in the region.
