The Colorado State women's golf team heads to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the 27th annual Dick McGuire Invitational. The University of New Mexico Lobos are hosting the event which is being held at the UNM Championship Golf Course.
The Field
This year's Dick McGuire Invitational features some of the top teams from around the country. Baylor, BYU, California, Colorado State, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Ohio State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, South Carolina, Southern California, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV, UTEP and New Mexico make up the 18 team field.
The 2005 Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic
The Colorado State Rams hosted the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic at Ptarmigan Country Club on September 12-13, 2005. The Rams, who won the tournament in 2004, finished in fifth place. Baylor claimed the top honor as a team, while Sian Reddick and Josefin Svenningsson, both from Baylor, finished in a tie for first place with individual three-round scores of 210.
Record Breaking Tournament
Tournament Results
This years' tournament was a record breaking two days for the Rams. The team's first round score of 286 tied the teams lowest single round score in school history. CSU's three-round total of 893 ranks as the eighth lowest tournament score of all time.
Leading the team was freshman Krystina Gillenwater, who finished in a tie for 14th place. Gillenwater and fellow Ram, Chelsea Benton, shot 70 in the first round which ties for the 10th lowest single round score for an individual in Colorado State history. Gillenwater's three-round total of 220 ties for the 13th lowest score for an individual at CSU.
