Rams' Tennis Wins on the Road

The Colorado State women's tennis team defeated the UTEP Miners, 5-2, today in El Paso, Texas. The Rams are 2-3 on the year.
The Rams began the day by capturing the doubles point. Emily Kirchem and Anne Andersen defeated Danielle King and Megan Prichard at No. 1 in a close 9-8 (3) match. Carla Pallares and Lauren Strasburger defeated Teri Wilkerson and Sandra Spirta at No. 2, 9-7, to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, Kirchem defeated Wilkerson at No. 1, 6-1, 6-3, and Andersen beat Prichard at No. 2, 6-2, 6-1. Lauren Strasburger defeated Katherine Palider, 6-1, 6-1, at No, 3 and Jessica Jones topped Vicky Michaud, 6-1, 6-2, for her first win at No. 5 this season.
"It was our best doubles performance this season; we were down and almost beat in doubles, but we came back and won," said Coach Jon Messick.
"It was our first match outside and usually we struggle. We turned it around and kept it going."
The Rams face New Mexico State tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in Las Cruces, N.M.
