Ram Tennis Wins First Conference Match

The Colorado Sate women's tennis team beat Air Force, 5-2, in its first conference match of the season in Colorado Springs. The Rams are now 5-5 this season and 1-0 in Mountain West play.
The Rams again swept doubles play for the second match in a row. This is the sixth time this season that they have won the doubles point.
In singles play, No. 91 Emily Kirchem continued her outstanding season by defeating Kat Bushey, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. She is now 8-2 in dual singles play. Anne Andersen beat Christine Abayan at No.2 singles, 6-1, 6-4. Lauren Strasburger won in a tough three-set match against Lauren Wilson at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Carla Pallares scored the last singles point by beating Erika Shortridge, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, at No. 4.
"We had to play well to win; everybody stepped up," said Coach Jon Messick.
Colorado State continues play this week in Las Vegas, Nev.
