Ram Golfers in Eighth at Callaway Invitational

San Diego, Calif. - The Colorado State men's golf team sits in a three-way tie for eighth place after the first day of the Callaway Golf Invitaional hosted by the Univeristy of San Diego Monday. The tournament is being played at the 6,911-yard, par 72 The Farms Golf Club in San Diego.
The Rams, who fired a first round total of 303 are in a tie for eighth place in the 16-team field along with UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State.
Freshman Zen Brown leads Ram golfers with a first-round 73 placing him in a tie for eighth individually while junior Derrick Whiting fired a 75 putting him in 18th. Herve Gevers, competing as an individual in the tournament, also had an opening-round 75.
Senior Nate Pettitt is in 38th with a 77 and Aaron Weston had a 78 putting him in a tie for 47th. Kevin McAlpine carded an 86 to round out Ram scoring on Monday.
San Diego State leads the tournament after an opening-round of 292 while Loyola Marymount's Jason D'Amore leads the tournament individually with a six-under 66.
Second round play was called due to darkness and will be completed on Tuesday morning.
