Final Stats

The Colorado State women's basketball (8-19, 2-14 MWC) team fell to the Air Force Falcons (13-14, 4-12 MWC), 79-65, in the final regular-season game of the year at Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Rams enter the Mountain West Conference tournament as the No. 8 seed.

The Rams took an early lead 4-0 in the first minute of the contest and pushed the score to 7-3 on a three-point basket by sophomore Sara Hunter four minutes into the game. The Falcons, however, scored the next nine points, taking the lead, 13-7, and never looked back.

Senior Lindsay Thomas got the scoring started for the Rams, accounting for five of the teams first 10 points. A Rams' 6-0 run cut the Air Force lead to one point, 20-19, but on the next possession, Air Forces' Letricia Castillo hit the first of her three treys to hold the Rams at arms length.

The Air force lead then ballooned to 10 points, 33-23 on the heals of a 13-4 run that began with Castillo's three and ended with a three-pointer by Pamela Findlay. Junior Molly Nohr scored seven of the Rams' last 11 points of the half to cut the Air Force lead to five points, 37-32 at halftime.

The Rams began the second half the same way they started the game and cut the Air Force lead to two points, 40-38, three-minutes into the half. The Falcons responded with an 8-2 run of their own and the Rams would never get the game any closer than four points.

After the Rams' cut the lead to four, 63-59 with six minutes remaining on four-straight points by Nohr, the Falcons tallied the next nine in a row and hit 9-of-10 from the free-throw line in the final 2:38 to seal the victory.

Thomas finished the game with 20 points for the Rams, setting a career-high against a conference opponent. She also pulled down eight rebounds. Nohr dropped 15 points and had a team-high five assist. Senior Melissa Dennett also added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Rams while blocking four shots.

The Rams will now play in the MWC Tournament play-in game against the No. 9-seeded San Diego State Aztecs. Tip for that game is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 from Pepsi Center in Denver.
