Women's Tennis Ready for Spring Break

Women's Tennis Has Busy Spring Break While the rest of CSU's students will be on spring break, the women's tennis team will be on the road competing. They begin in Colorado Springs, where they play Air Force, and then travel to Las Vegas, where they play Southern Utah, Valparaiso, and Idaho State. Last week, the match against Air Force was changed from April 16th to Sunday March, 12 at 1:00 p.m. The Idaho State match was added and will be played March 15th at 3:00 p.m. The Air Force Falcons are 5-9 this season and 1-0 in the Mountain West Conference, with a win over Wyoming last weekend. It will be the Rams' first conference match of the season. The Rams begin in Las Vegas against Southern Utahon March 14th at 1:00 p.m. PT. The Thunderbirds begin dual play on March 9th against Oakland. Last season Southern Utah went 11-5 in dual play, but lost to Colorado State, 7-0. Colorado State continues in Las Vegas facing Valparaiso March 15th at 9:00 a.m PT. The Crusaders are 2-2 this season. Valparaisobeat Bradley and Chicago, and lost to Xavier and Toledo. The Rams end against Idaho State on the 15th at 3:00 p.m. PT. The Bengals are 0-2 this season with losses to Utah State and Weber State. Last season the Rams beat Idaho State, 7-0, in Las Vegas.

Rams Win at Home Last weekend the Rams defeated North Texas at home, 6-1, and are now 4-5 in dual play. The Rams began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. This was the first time all season that CSU has won all three doubles matches. Seniors Carla Pallares and Jasmin Singh grabbed their first dual singles win of the season at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively. Pallares defeated Megan Schmulbach, 6-2, 6-0, while Singh beat Sara Giles, 6-4, 6-4. The Rams' one loss came as Jessica Jones was defeated by Aziza Aba Butain, 5-1, after retiring the match. Emily Kirchem is now 7-2 in dual singles play this season and is 6-3 in doubles play with partner Anne Andersen.
