Benton Earns All-Conference Honors

CSU sophomore Chelsea Benton was one of eight players named to the All-Mountain West Conference team. The announcement came at Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah, on Saturday, April 22. UNLV freshman Da Sol Chung was named the Player of the Year, while Chung and New Mexico's Mikaela Backstedt shared Freshman of the Year honors. UNLV head coach Missy Ringler was selected the Coach of the Year.
Benton finished tied for 10th in the Mountain West Championship Saturday carding an 11-over 227 in the three-day event. Benton led the Rams with a 74.97 stroke average this year while recording three top 10 finishes on the year including a third place finish in the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate October 31-November 2. In that tounament, Benton carded a school-record 67 in the second round while posting the second-best tournament score in school history. She was named as Mountain West player of the Month in October.
Benton is CSU's seventh player in school history to be named to the all-conference team and is the second player, along with Kristen Campos in 2005, under coach Angie Hopkins.
