The Colorado State women's golf team wrapped up play at the BYU Dixie Classic today. The three day tournament drew to a close with the golfers playing in rain, hail, and wind. The Rams dropped from 10th to 13th place after carding a 339 in the third round.
The poor weather conditions added strokes to everyone's scores but the top finisher for Colorado State was sophomore Chelsea Benton. The BYU Dixie Classic marks the fifth tournament in a row that Benton has led the Rams. Chelsea's final round score of 83 brought her tournament total to 239 and placed her in a tie for 23rd.
Megan Chapman was next on the leaderboard for the Rams. Chapman carded an 84 in the final round and finished the tournament in a tie for 46th place. Stefanie Ferguson and Amber Ward both tied for 59th place. Ferguson carded an 84 in the final round and Ward shot an 88 which brought both of their final scores to 250. Karen Wanersdorfer withdrew from the tournament in the first round.
UNLV overtook the University of New Mexico to claim the title of tournament champion. The top three finishers were all teams from the Mountain West with UNLV, BYU and New Mexico finishing in first, second, and third respectively. Seema Sadekar, from UNLV, was the top individual finisher with a three-round total of 223 (+7).
The Rams have a short, two-week break before heading back to St. George, Utah for the Mountain West Conference Championship on April 20th.
