Indianapolis - CSU sophomore golfer Chelsea Benton was selected to play as an individual in the 2006 NCAA West Regional in Las Auburn, Washington on May 11-13. The announcement came from the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee Monday. Benton was one of three players selected to play individually in the region and one of nine to play individually in the nation and joins 21 teams competing in the west regional.

Benton was the top finisher for the Rams in seven of the team's ten tournaments this season. She also led the team in stroke average (74.97), top 10 finishes with three and top 20 finishes with four. Chelsea was named the Mountain West Golfer of the Month in November and was one of eight players to be honored on the all-Mountain West Conference team.

Benton etched her name in the Colorado State record books on more than one occasion this season. Her score of 67 in the second round of the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown is the lowest individual single round score in school history and her tournament score of 218 at the MountainView Collegiate tournament is the ninth lowest individual tournament score ever for CSU.

The NCAA West Regional is hosted by the University of Washington and will be played at the Washington National Golf Club.
