For the second straight evening, the Colorado State volleyball team swept the competition, defeating TCU in three games, 30-22, 30-25, 30-13. With the win, the Rams improve to 7-6 on the year and even their record at 2-2 in Mountain West Conference play. TCU falls to 13-3 on the season and 2-1 in league play.

Sophomore outside hitter Jaime Strauss led the match with 12 kills and tallied her sixth double-double of the year with 11 digs. Junior middle blocker Amanda Fahnestock tallied 11 kills and hit .588 (11-1-17) and junior rightside hitter Tonya Mokelki added 10 kills and hit .333 (10-4-18). Sophomore setter Ashley Fornstrom notched a career-high with six kills - which also gave her 100 for her career - and she led the match with four aces. Freshman libero Katelin Batten tallied double figures in digs for the 11th straight match, tallying 12, and is now just two matches shy of tying the school record of 13 consecutive double figure dig matches held by Carrie Appleman from 1992.

"This was a very complete match for us," said head coach Tom Hilbert. "TCU is probably a better team than they showed tonight. We put a lot of pressure on them and it showed, especially in game three. Ashley Fornstrom, the whole weekend, was exceptional. I'm really happy with her and the way she played."

TCU was led by LeMeita Smith and Lauren Otto with eight kills each, while Emily Allen led the team with 11 digs and senior middle blocker Anna Vaughn led with three blocks.

The Rams had nine aces and just seven service errors, the first time this season they were in the plus column in aces. They also hit .364 as a team with just five hitting errors in the final two games. The Rams' defense held TCU to a .103 hitting percentage and the Horned Frogs tallied two aces and three errors.

Colorado State plays at Wyoming on Sunday in a match televised on The mtn. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The next home match for the Rams is Wed., Oct. 4 against Denver in the final non-conference match of the season.
