Women's Golf Preview - Heather Farr/CU Memorial Invitational

On the Next Tee The Colorado State women's golf team heads to Broomfield, Colo. to compete in the 2006 Heather Farr/CU Memorial Invitational. This 54-hole event is hosted by the University of Colorado and will be played at the Omni Interlocken Golf Club. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
The Field The field for the Heather Farr/CU Memorial includes many of the same schools the Rams have played against in their first two tournaments of the season. The 16-team field consists of: Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana State, New Mexico State, Oregon State, San Jose State, Washington State, Weber State and Wyoming.
The 2006 Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate The Colorado State women's golf team finished ninth in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, and once again entered the record books with their three-round total of 909, tied for the 19th best team score in school history. This finish is the second consecutive top-10 finish for the Rams this year. Host school Denver won the event with a 15-under-par tournament score of 849.
Benton Leads Again The Rams were once again lead by the sensational play of junior Chelsea Benton. Benton, playing in her native town of Highlands Ranch, carded scores of 71-61-71--211 to finish in third place individually. Her tournament score of 211 breaks into the record books as a tie for the thrid best individual score in Colorado State history. Additionally, the 69 she fired in the second round is tied for the seventh best single round score in school history. Benton was also second in par-five scoring for the tournament, finishing seven strokes under par on the five-par holes. Benton has now posted one score under 70 in both the tournaments she has played this season. Her stroke average of 72.67 is currently second best in the Mountain West Conference.
Long Driver As if a third place finish and breaking two school records wasn't enough for Chelsea Benton, she won the tournaments long drive competition with a 303 yard drive.
Seconds For Stone For the second consecutive tournament, Natalie Stone was the second-place finisher on the the team. Stone once again carded consistent scores in the 70s for the Rams. She also finished the tournament with 37 pars, more than any other Ram golfer and tied for seventh best in the 85-golfer field.
