CSU Tennis Clinches Win in 2007 Season Debut

In doubles, Laura Neal and Lauren Strasburger fell to Kasey Knox and Kerstyn Dolack of EWU by a score of 8-5. Then, in number two and three doubles, the Rams won both and earned one point towards their team score; Hilary Tyler and Anette Pohjalainen defeated Iliana Petrova and Amanda Mankovits, 8-3. Kirsten Stople and Riu Xu earned a victory over Rachel Berger and Marie Demerath, 8-5.
In singles, CSU won the first four matches quickly. Strasburger defeated Knox 6-3, 6-3, Laura Neal beat Dolack 6-2, 6-1, Tyler won over Berger 6-1, 6-3, and Pohjalainen defeated Mankovits by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Competing in number 5 singles, Greer Satherlie took on Demerath and came out with a point after winning 9-7. Number six singles was a hard fought match, but in the end, Eastern Washington's Sayaka Yoshimoto beat Stople 9-8 (6).
"I was very pleased with the play, especially from the freshman," head coach Jon Messick commented. "It was good to get experience from the freshman; on top of that everyone played really well."
