COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 23 Rams used a combination of youth and experience to down the Falcons in three games (30-21, 30-17, and 30-21) Thursday night at the Academy. Jacque Davisson and Danielle Minch each finished career nights. Minch hit a career-high .438 with 10 kills while Davisson had six kills and two blocks for career highs. The Rams have now won 12 of their last 13 matches and are on a two-match road winning streak.

Game 1 featured the trio of Tonya Mokelki, Nelson, and Minch who combined for 12 kills. Davisson had a career high in the first game, notching three kills. The Rams (12-4, 6-1 MWC) scored early, taking the lead on a four-point run behind the service of Katelin Batten, 8-5. CSU held firm but allowed the Falcons to tie the score at 10. CSU finished the game with a 20-11 run to win 30-21.

The Rams held the blocking advantage, led by Mekana Barnes with a pair. Barnes added two kills and Fornstrom had one kill, 15 assists, and a block. Defensively, Davisson led all players with four digs while Batten and Mokelki had three each. Freshman Crystin Rodrick added two digs.

In the second game, CSU initially fell behind before a 3-1 run put them up 5-3 behind the service of Ashley Fornstrom. The Rams held the advantage, extending it to nine points at 21-12. After a timeout by the Falcons, CSU went on a 7-3 run that included two blocks and a cross-court kill by Minch. The Ram hitters combined to hit .444 for the game as they wrapped up Game 2, 30-17. Minch notched six kills, with Amanda Fahnestock contributing four in the game. The Rams finished with 17 team kills and 13 digs.

Game 3 started with a 4-1 run behind the service of Barnes, who had struggled with service in the first two games. CSU built on the three-point lead with scrappy play on both sides, making the score 10-5. The Rams continued to rely on the freshmen as they set career highs. Jonelle Wallace hit back-to-back shots cross court and Nelson followed it up with her sixth kill of the match for a 22-15 lead. The Falcons forced long rallies but could not stop the CSU onslaught as the Rams won the game 30-20.

The Rams will travel to Laramie for a 7 p.m. match Saturday evening. The match will be the halfway point of the Mountain West Conference season.
