Rocky Mountain Invite History
Colorado State has fared well in 13 previous Coors Rocky Mountain Invitationals, posting an all-time record of 22-4 in the event.
Northern Colorado Notables
Freshman forward Lauren Young had a breakout performance against in-state rival Northern Colorado on Tuesday night at the Butler-Hancock Pavilion in Greeley. Young led the Rams with 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting, posting a new career high. Young also posted career bests with six rebounds, three offensive rebounds, three blocks and 29 minutes played.
Junior Britney Minor also posted impressive numbers against he Bears. Minor posted career highs in points (10), rebounds (4), field goals made (3) and field goals attempted (7) in 20 minutes off the bench for the Rams.
Sophomore forward Juanise Cornell was the third Ram to finish in double figures at UNC, posting 10 points and finishing just one rebound shy of a double-double, with nine.
Junior forward Carine Reimink continued her stellar play with a nine-point, seven-rebound, two-block effort before being limited in the second half after twisting her ankle.
Colorado State struggled shooting from beyond the arc, going 0-for-6 as a team. It marked just the second time since the 2001-02 season that a Colorado State team was held without a 3-point field goal.
The Rams' defense held Northern Colorado to just 30.2 percent shooting from the floor, but the Bears connected on 12-of-39 3-point attempts and were 20-for-27 from the free-throw line to capture their first victory over Colorado State in 15 games dating back to the 1978-79 season.
For the Record
Senior guard Sara Hunter has made quite an assault on the career record book at Colorado State. See Page 5 of this release to follow Hunter's steady climb up the career charts.
Queen-Sized Performance
Freshman forward Elle Queen is off to one of the most impressive starts by a freshman in school history. The 6-foot product of Excelsior, Minn., has started each of the first four games of her career and ranks fourth on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg.) and third in rebounding (6.3 rpg.). Queen recorded her first-career double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) in the Rams' game against San Francisco on Nov. 13.
