POSTGAME QUOTES

CSU Coach Dale Layer

"San Diego State is playing very well, and they continued to do so today.

"I thought their ability to hit three's today during their stretch drive really broke our backs. Those were `dagger' threes."

"We were outrebounding everyone, now we're not. That's not acceptable. We've lost a little edge during this losing streak."

"Our shots would not go down."

"I think a big play was when Williams went the length of the floor off the bounce and made the shot."

"Their energy and ability to make three's was huge."

On not starting Jason Smith

"It's the most he's played in two weeks. We're trying to figure out ways to keep him on the floor."

CSU Forward Jason Smith

"We're just not playing as a team, we have been struggling with that for the last couple games. We have got to get back to playing fundamental defense and offense."

"There were a lot of lay-ups that I noticed that just rimmed out and were right there on the edge and just wouldn't fall in. That's just basketball right there."

"I think we are just trying new things and get a feel for our team."

"I had no problem coming off the bench; it makes me have more aggression. Makes me work harder for my minutes."

On things not going their way...

"It's definitely a confidence thing. It just wasn't there today. We got to work hard. The only thing we can control is our effort. We keep on fighting through games, we just need to go back to fundamentals."

"It was our lack of defensive pressure. We allowed them to have open shots. If you let anyone in our conference have open shots, their going to make them."

"We have to keep on playing. You can't hang our heads, you can't differ your style of play you just keep on playing."

"We were right there at half time. We should never have let them have that run. It's tough."

CSU Guard Tyler Smith

"You try and get to the lane, and the shots are going in and out. That's going to do something to your confidence."

"We have good practices and then we try and prepare the best way we can for the game. And then when game time comes we play well in the first half and in the second half, they go on a big run and we don't know how to answer back and stop the run. So that's one of the biggest things we have to overcome is when they get out there on the run."

On guard chemistry.....

"It's still there, we just aren't on the right position to make the best plays out team. We just run the plays that coach wants us to run and we do. But at the same time we still have to play like we play as guards and try to attack and create for ourselves and create for other people."

"The better we play on offense, the better we play defense."

San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher

"We had a stretch where our defense played very well in the second half."

"We have practiced hard and it has showed. We have now won four straight."

On team shooting today

"We have a team that can make shots and score. Today we had our feet set and we have good three point shooters."

On San Diego States second half run

"This game is about runs and we can't lose a run with mistakes. We made a run and it was fun for our guys on someone else's floor."
