A Pair Of Seconds: Both the men's and women's team finished second at the Mountain West Championship. The men's team scored 143 points, finishing behind BYU at 180, while the women's team scored 122 points, finishing behind BYU with 179 points. TCU finished third on the women's side, while Air Force and Wyoming took third and fourth for the men.
Barrier Breaking: Senior Katie Lloyd became the first at CSU to break the 4,000 point barrier in the pentathlon, winning the Mountain West Conference Championship with a school record 4,047 points. She won her fourth straight championship (two indoor pentathlon, two outdoor heptathlon) and became the first female in Mountain West history to win two pentathlon titles.
All-Conference: Colorado State had 18 named to the All-Conference team. That list follows:

More From Morano: Junior Drew Morano broke the school record en route to the Mountain West Championship in the 400 meters. Morano clocked a 46.74, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship and breaking the old record of 46.95 held by Deontrey Taylor from 1998. Morano also ran a 21.15 to finish second at the championship in the 200 meters. His time is an NCAA provisional qualifying time and the second-fastest time in school history, behind the 20.91 from John Woods in 2005.
Ending On A High Note: In the last women's event of the championship, the 4x400 meter relay, the Colorado State quartet of senior Megan Fox, freshman Tanesha Johnson, junior Niomi Ridge and Emily Pearson won the first heat, crossing the tape in 3:47.25, breaking the old record of 3:49.10 from last season's championship. The men's quartet of Cole Tucker, Tim Sterrenberg, Kyle Keeler and Drew Morano also finished second overall in the 4x400 meter relay, running a 3:13.96 and narrowly missing the record of 3:13.82 from 1986.
Double The Fun: Janay DeLoach won her second straight Mountain West Indoor long jump title and also finished second in the 60 meters for the third straight year. DeLoach boasted her best jump of the calendar year, leaping 20-7.25 and she also ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.41 in the 60 meters. DeLoach currently ranks second in the nation with her school record long jump of 21-0.75 from the Wyoming Open.
Hitting The Mark: Emily Pearson provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship in the pentathlon after finishing fourth with 3,722 points - a personal best for the junior. Her total ranks fourth on the Colorado State descending order list.
He's Ba-ack: Junior Magnus Lohse won the shot put competition with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 58-8.5 at the Mountain West Championship. Lohse also won the 2005 title and finished second in 2004 as a freshman.
Sonni Side Up: In her first Mountain West Championship, Sonni Russell placed second in the high jump after clearing 5-8.75, which ranks third all-time at Colorado State. The freshman had cleared 5-5 in several meets through the season, then in the pentathlon on Thursday, cleared a personal best 5-7.25 and then added another inch-and-a-half on Saturday morning.
Tough Field: Tanesha Johnson posted a personal best by 7.5 inches and had the second-best triple jump in school history at 39-8 to finish sixth at the Mountain West Conference Championships. The top four in the meet all provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship. She also ran a personal best 7.62 to finish sixth in the 60 meters.
And The Award Goes To: Colorado State has earned five athlete of the week awards this season. Drew Morano is the only athlete to be named athlete of the week twice this season, while seniors Janay DeLoach, Kevin Johnson and Katie Lloyd have each been honored once.
Responding To Pressure: Drew Morano, Kevin Johnson, Janay DeLoach and Katie Lloyd all entered the Mountain West Championship with the best mark in the conference this season and all four won titles. Morano won the 400, Johnson won the heptathlon, DeLoach won the long jump and Lloyd defended her title in the pentathlon.
Freshman Phenoms: Colorado State had 16 true freshmen compete at the Mountain West Championships and four earned all-conference honors. Kristen Kugler ran on the distance medley relay team that finished second and was eighth in the high jump, while Sonni Russell was second in the high jump and both Tim Sterrenberg and Cole Tucker ran on the 4x400 meter relay team that placed second. Other freshmen finishing in the top eight included Tanesha Johnson placing sixth in both the 60 and triple jump, Sulaiman Sayyid was fifth in the 60 and eighth in the 200, Tucker was seventh in the 400, Derek Mansur was fifth and Kevin Wills was eighth in the high jump, Ryan Friese was eighth in the triple jump, Tyson Williams finished eighth in the shot put, Jennifer Ugochukwu was fifth in the shot put and Jennifer Mack was eighth in the weight throw.
Etching Their Name: The top 10 lists at Colorado State are riddled with this performances from this season.
• Tanesha Johnson ranks third in the 60 meters at 7.62.
• Katie Lloyd ranks third in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.67 and Emily Pearson is now fifth at 8.76.
• Niomi Ridge ranks ninth in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.92 and freshman Chardae Hancock 10th at 8.98.
• Janay DeLoach ranks fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.67.
• Sophomore Kirsten Anthony and junior Heather Loseke rank seventh and eighth, respectively in the mile at 4:53.04 and 4:53.47.
• Nicole Feest and junior April Thomas rank fifth and sixth, respectively in the 3000 meters at 9:43.09 and 9:45.46, while Thomas now ranks third in the 5000 meters at 16:44.11.
• Sonni Russell ranks third in the high jump at 5-8.75, while Emily Pearson ranks 10th at 5-6.
• Janay DeLoach and Katie Lloyd hold the top two spots in the long jump at 21-0.75 and 19-11, respectively.
• Tanesha Johnson ranks second in the triple jump at 39-8.
• Junior Ashleigh Morton ranks third, while sophomore Kate Colvin ranks seventh in the pole vault, clearing 11-11.75 and 11-5.75, respectively.
• Jennifer Ugochukwu ranks sixth in the shot put at 47-9.25.
• Senior Haley Hunt now ranks eighth in the weight throw at 58-10.
• Katie Lloyd and Emily Pearson rank first and fourth in the pentathlon at 4047 and 3722, respectively.
• Kevin Johnson and Rashaun Greer rank fourth and sixth in the 60 meter hurdles, while freshman Robert Marin is 10th, with times of 8.04, 8.19 and 8.29, respectively.
• Drew Morano now ranks second in the 200 and posts the fastest 400 meters at 21.15 and 46.74.
• Sophomore Scott Sanders ranks sixth in the mile at 4:05.84 and seventh in the 800 meters at 1:52.39.
• Sophomore Jeremy Freed ranks 10th in the mile at 4:12.41.
• Rob Watson and Jeremy Freed rank eighth and ninth in the 5000 meters with times of 14:44.54 and 14:50.87, respectively.
• Jason Smith is fifth in the triple jump at 48-10.25.
• Jason Schutz moved into 10th in the weight throw with a toss of 63-7.75
• Kevin Johnson and freshman Doug Dieker are first and second in the heptathlon at 5,569 and 4,713, respectively.
Roster Breakdown: Fifteen states and four countries are represented on the 2007 Rams' rosters. Besides the United States, the Rams have student-athletes from Canada (Ontario), Australia and Sweden. The majority of the rosters (74) are home-grown, hailing from the state of Colorado, while there are four each from California and Oregon, three from Arizona and New Mexico, two each from Kansas, South Dakota and Texas and one from Illinois, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio and Utah.
