Colorado State seniors Katie Lloyd and Kevin Johnson both completed their stellar indoor track and field careers at the NCAA Championships today. Lloyd finished seventh in the pentathlon with 4,084 points en route to a new school record, while Johnson finished 11th in the heptathlon with 5,422 points.
Lloyd began her first indoor NCAA Championship by running an 8.74 in the 60 meter hurdles. She then cleared 5-7.75 in the high jump, just a quarter of an inch of her personal best of 5-8, and threw a personal best 40-3.25 in the shot put. In the long jump, she finished fifth with a leap of 19-3.25 and ended her stellar indoor career at Colorado State by running a 2:25.48 in the 800 meters. She breaks her own school record of 4,047 from the Mountain West Championship two weeks ago and earns her first All-American certificate and the second of the season for the Rams, as senior Janay DeLoach finished fifth in the long jump yesterday.
Johnson began the second day of the heptathlon with an 8.17 in the 60 meter hurdles, then tied his personal best by clearing 14-9 in the pole vault and finished his indoor career by running a personal best time of 2:53.79 in the 1000 meters.
Colorado State begins its outdoor track and field season on March 22 with the first day of the Glenn Morris Multi-Meet at the Jack Christiansen Track on the campus of Colorado State.
