Women's Golf in 12th After First Day

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Colorado State women's golf team is in 12th place Tuesday after two rounds of play at the BYU Dixie Classic in St. George, Utah.
The Rams had rounds of 319 and 308, good for a 36-hole total of 627. Leading the team is freshman Kasey Claussen, who is tied for 20th after firing a 76 in the first round and a 77 in the second. Amber Ward is tied for 37th (83-73-156), Megan Chapman is tied for 58th (81-79-160), Stefanie Ferguson is tied for 66th (79-85-164) and Natalie Stone (89-79-168) is in 72nd place.
Host school BYU leads the event, which is being held at Entrada at Snow Canyon, the same location as the upcoming Mountain West Championships. TCU is in second, three strokes off the leader, and Denver is in third, four strokes back. This event features some of the toughest competition the Rams have faced all year, as four of the 16-team field are ranked top-30 nationally.
The final round will begin Wednesday with an 8 a.m. (MST) shotgun start.
