CSU Summer Events Calendar

In just 80 days, Colorado State University opens the 2007 season against in-state rival Colorado at INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver. Over that span - which covers more than 11 weeks, there are plenty of events on the calendar, including:
July 22-24 - MWC Media Day Activities
Rams' coach Sonny Lubick and a pair of student-athletes will be in Las Vegas for the Mountain West Conference's annual summer meetings and media activities, joined by similar trios from each of the other eight conference schools.
July 31 - Newcomers report
First-year players on Lubick's roster report for preseason practices, including physical examinations and academic orientation.
Aug. 1 - Returning players report
Lubick welcomes the rest of his squad to preseason camp a day after newcomers arrive.
Aug. 2 - Practice begins
More than 100 Rams will take the field for the first time for one practice. Under NCAA guidelines, the team will workout once a day the first five days of practice.
Aug. 7 - Media Day
Lubick, his staff and players will be at Hughes Stadium for annual Media Day activities with local and regional writers and reporters. The team will not practice that day. Volleyball players report.
Aug. 8 - Practices Resume
The Rams resume practice with two workouts on alternating days. Rams volleyball practice starts.
Aug. 13 - Volleyball Media Day

Aug. 15 - Business After Hours
Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce members are guests of the CSU Athletics Department at a stadium function from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event includes remarks from Director of Athletics Paul Kowalczyk, along with football coach Sonny Lubick and volleyball coach Tom Hilbert.
Aug. 16 - Front Range Kickoff Luncheon
Lubick joins Air Force coach Troy Calhoun and Wyoming counterpart Joe Glenn for a luncheon at the Denver West Marriott in Golden. The event begins at 11:30 a.m., with each of the three coaches providing season previews. Fans can call 970-491-4666 for reservations.
Aug. 19 - Ram Welcome
First-time CSU students are treated to the history and traditions on campus during Ram Welcome. Classes at CSU begin the following day.
Aug. 23 - Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce Luncheon
Kowalczyk, Lubick, Hilbert, and cross country coach Bryan Berryhill are featured at the annual luncheon. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton of Fort Collins. Call 970-491-4666 or the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce for reservations. Play-by-play announcer Rich Bircumshaw is the master of ceremonies, and chamber director David May also provides remarks.
Aug. 24 - Rocky Mountain Showdown Luncheon
Lubick and CU coach Dan Hawkins will be at INVESCO Field at Mile High for the annual luncheon preceding the in-state battle. The event begins at 11:30 a.m., and is organized by the Metro Denver Sports Commission.
Aug. 24-26 - Volleyball Tournament
Asics classic in Hawaii
Aug. 27 - Rocky Mountain Showdown Classic Golf Tournament
Fans and donors from CSU and CU meet one another on the golf course at the Lakewood Country Club. Call 970-491-4666 for information.
Aug. 29 - Coors Light Sonny Lubick Radio Show
The first weekly radio show of the season debuts at 7 p.m., originating live from the Stone House Grille in Fort Collins. Head coach Sonny Lubick joins Rich Bircumshaw to preview the upcoming season as well as the game with Colorado.
Aug. 30 - Home Volleyball Opener
VS OHIO STATE in Coors Rocky Mountain Showdown
Aug. 31 - ASCSU student barbecue
CSU student government officials are again planning a free barbecue for students at 12 noon on the student center plaza. Lubick and selected players will be on hand at noon to provide comments on the upcoming game with Colorado.
Sept. 6 - Pep Rally
CSU officials, along with the Downtown Business Assn., Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau are planning an evening pep rally preceding the first home game of the year against Cal two days later. Stay tuned for event times and activities.
