Rams eighth after two rounds at Ptarmigan, Cal leads

The Colorado State women's golf team opened the 2007-08 season, hosting the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. The annual 20-team tournament began with 36 holes on Monday.
Colorado State ended day one in a tie for eighth place with San Jose State. The Rams posted a two-round team score of 603 (+27).
California closed day one with an 11-stroke cushion, pacing the field with a team total of 581 (+5). Colorado (+16), Washington State (+17), BYU (+20) and Idaho (+46) round out the top-5.
Kasey Claussen paces the Rams in a tie for 23rd with a 5-over-par 149, followed by Natalie Stone in a tie for 26th (+6). Other individual performances for the Rams included Stefanie Ferguson (+9), Cecilia Edlund (+10) and Kayley Kempton (+15) in a tie for 40th, 46th and 57th, respectively.
