Colorado State Ties for Fifth Place
The women's golf team the 2007-2008 season with the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, hosted by Colorado State and Ptamarigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. After two rounds, the Rams finished day one tied for eighth place with San Jose State. The team posted a two-round score of 603(+27).
The Rams advanced three spots on the final day of the tournament to tie for fifth with San Jose State. Both teams finished with a team total of 898(+34). Stefanie Ferguson and Natalie Stone led the Rams, with Kasey Claussen finishing not far behind.Ferguson carded a final round 71(-1) and Stone shot a 74(+2) to finish with a three-round total of 224(+8) in a tie for 21st. Claussen tied for 29th after posting a 225(+9).
Kayley Kempton (+17) and Cecilia Edlund (+18) tied for 49th and 55th, respectively.
California Captures Team Title
California claimed the tournament title with a 4 over par 868. Washington State came in second with an 887(+23), and BYU and Colorado tied for third place with a team total of 891(+27).
Cal's Shannon Yocum captured first place, carding rounds of 73, 71 and 70 to finish 2 under par (214). Pia Holbig of California took second with an even par and a three-round score of 216.
Up Next for Colorado State
The Rams will be in action again Sept. 17-18 at the Ron Moore Collegiate Invitational in Denver, Colo. The tournament will be held at Highlands Ranch Golf Club on the 6, 518-yard, par-72 course. The 54-hole tournament is hosted by the University of Denver, and is scheduled to begin with two rounds on Monday at 8:30 a.m., with the final round beginning at Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Eighteen teams will be participating in the tournament, including six individuals.
