2007-08 CSU Women's Golf Although the women's golf team lost two contributors, Amber Ward and Megan Chapman, to graduation, there are several members of the team to watch out for this fall. Stefanie Ferguson will be returning for her third season, and is on the road to success. Ferguson carded a season-low 73 at the Ron Moore Invitational last fall, and finished the 2006-07 season with a 79.39 average. In the Colorado Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship at Woodmoor Pines & Golf Country Club in Monument, Colo., she defeated nationally ranked Dawn Shockley of the University of Denver. Ferguson beat Shockley 2 up in 36 holes, wrapping up the match on the 36th green after being 4 up after 18 holes.
Sophomore Kasey Claussen is back for her second season after she scored a season-low 72 at the Give `Em Five Invitational in Fall 2006. Other returning players include Cecilia Edlund and Natalie Stone.
Leading the newcomers this season is Kayley Kempton from Littleton, Colo. According to the AJGA Polo Golf Rankings, Kempton is ranked 14th in the recruiting class of 2007. She finished first out of 23 at the AJGA Lockton Capitol Federal Kansas City Junior Tournament, and placed ninth out of 80 top female junior golfers in the nation at the AJGA Rolex Girls Junior Championship. 2007 Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, Sept. 10-11 Colorado State University and Ptarmigan Country Club are hosting the 10th annual Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic Sept. 10-11. Ptarmigan families will be hosting the majority of the 20 teams and coaches in their homes. Teams include defending champion University of Colorado, Baylor, Cal, Eastern Washington, Weber State, Washington State, Idaho, Campbell, Long Beach State, Fresno State, Montana State, Portland State, Nevada, Texas Tech, San Jose State, BYU, Wyoming, Gonzaga and UTEP. Colorado State took first place in the tournament in 2004 with a score of 876, and finished with 894(+30) in 2006. Past tournament champions include Mayumi Motoyama, who led the team in 2001 with a score of 211.
