FORT COLLINS, Colo. - After returning from the winter break, the Colorado State indoor track and field teams have jumped back into school and competition quickly as they travel to the Nebraska Conference Challenge and the Joe Davies Invitational this weekend. The Rams will compete in their first full meets of the indoor season Saturday.
The majority of the team will travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a unique meet. The teams competing will join forces to score points for the Mountain West and the Big 12. CSU will compete with BYU and Air Force in this unique scoring format.
"It's a unique opportunity to compete with our conference schools this weekend," said Head Coach Brian Bedard. "It should be a fun and different meet. Right now we are just looking for a good competitive effort. Our staff will be able to see where we are at after coming off that six-week break. We knew where they were at when they left; this is an opportunity to see where they are now."
The Conference Challenge will provide a great deal of competition for the Rams early in the indoor season.
"I think women's distance will take up where they left off after cross country season," Bedard continued. "Jason Schutz should continue to compete well and I think we will see good things from Drew Morano in the sprints. I think our upperclassmen are going to pick up where they left off. There is good competition at this meet and everyone will see a challenge in every event."
About 30 athletes will travel to Golden, Colo. and the Joe Davies Invitational, hosted by the Colorado School of Mines. The team will split to give more athletes an opportunity to compete.
