FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Despite a phenomenal rebounding effort, TCU shot 47.7 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc to top CSU in Moby Arena Wednesday night, 76-41.
Colorado State outrebounded TCU 46-37. Nearly half of the Rams' rebounds were offensive. Junior Amaka Uzomah and freshman Elle Queen each grabbed five of the Rams' 20 offensive rebounds.
"Our rebounding tonight was tremendous," Head Coach Jen Warden said. "But we have got to be able to finish layups to win games."
The Rams played it close in the first half and were only down nine going into halftime after Queen made a layup with 9 seconds remaining.
TCU's offense exploded in the second half as it shot 56.7 percent. The Horned Frogs went on an 8-0 run from the 16:26 mark to the 14:51 mark of the second half to extend their lead to 20 points, 42-22.
Uzomah led the Rams in scoring and rebounding with eight points and 10 boards. Queen added seven points and eight rebounds and junior Britney Minor had six points of her own.
The next game for Colorado State will be in Colorado Springs, Colo., Sunday as the Rams take on the Air Force Falcons. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game can be seen live on The Mtn.
