BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Colorado State women's golf team is in 13th place after Round 2 at the UNLV Spring Invite in Boulder City, Nev.  The Rams shot a 294 during the second round of competition and  completed Day 2 with a team total 598 (+22).

Junior Stefanie Ferguson continues to lead the Rams, finishing the second round in 15th place.  Ferguson improved two strokes over her first round, carding a 71 on Tuesday.  Sophomore Kasey Claussen is in a tie for 29th with a 72 for Round 2.

"Stef played very steady," said Head Coach Angie Hopkins.  "She hit 12 greens and was 4-for-6 on up and downs. Kasey had birdie putts lip-out all day, and then on 18 she slam-dunked a 20-footer for birdie."

Sophomore Natalie Stone (77-75--152) and freshman Kayley Kempton (78-76--154) are tied for 51st and 64th place, respectively.

"Nat and Kayley both relied on their solid short games and really held it together well the entire day," added Hopkins.

Freshman Cecilia Edlund ended Day 2 in a tie for 80th with a score of 159 (+15).

"The whole team played smart golf," said Hopkins.  "I was so proud of all of them.  This is a young group and their course management is paying off. All in all, a solid performance from the Rams."

Colorado State concludes play in Las Vegas with Round 3 on Wednesday.
