FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Jason Schutz will be the Rams' sole representative at this weekend's NCAA indoor track and field championships hosted by the University of Arkansas. Schutz will compete Saturday morning in the weight throw.

"If you would have told me five years ago that Jason Schutz would be throwing the weight at Nationals I would have said you're crazy," said Head Coach Brian Bedard. "Jason was so weak and skinny when he came in that I didn't even have him throw the weight his freshman year for fear that he would get hurt. He worked his tail off, believed in our program and just kept getting better along the way.

"Nothing has come easy for him at any point. He has had to scratch and claw his way through the tough spots. I'm glad he grew up on a ranch. He knows how to work hard, has outstanding character and has matured in the program. It has been rewarding to watch him develop into a team leader for the program. When Jason came into our program as a walk-on and has the success that he's had, the other athletes need to listen to his story and learn from it."

Schutz and Bedard will travel to the championships Friday. Updates will be available through the following link throughout the weekend: CLICK HERE.
