SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Colorado State women's golf team shot a final-round 201 to improve three spots and capture a Top 10 finish at the Spartan Invitational, on Tuesday behind the improved play of junior Stefanie Ferguson. Ferguson, shot a final-round 71 to improve 23 spots and finish in a tie for 12th place with a three-round total of 228 (+12).

"Stefanie really came back and saved us today," said Head Coach Angie Hopkins. "She stepped up and played a great round of golf to help us reach a Top 10 finish."

Freshman Kayley Kempton finished the tournament tied for 33rd. After back-to-back rounds of 78 Monday, Kempton shot a third-round 77 to finish with a 17-over-par 233. Sophomore Kasey Claussen tied for 38th with a 236 (+20).

Sophomore Natalie Stone and freshman Cecilia Edlund finished in a tie for 54th and 69th, respectively, with totals of 243 and 256.

"We have a young team and the girls are constantly improving," added Hopkins. "I was pleased this weekend with how our team stepped up and improved each round. We had solid play from four players which is what we need to compete."

The Rams are back on the green Monday-Wednesday at the UNLV Spring Invitational in Boulder City, Nev. The event is hosted by UNLV. The 54-hole tournament will consist of 18 holes each day at the par 72, 6,204-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club.
