Rams drop two at No. 19/21 San Diego State

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Colorado State softball team dropped a pair of games at No. 19/21 San Diego State Friday, losing 2-1 and 3-2. The Rams are now 24-21 overall and 4-10 in conference play while the Aztecs improve to 41-15 and 13-5 in conference play.
Junior Shannon Causgrove came through in the clutch for the second time in two pinch-hit at-bats as she hit an RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to tie the first game, 1-1.
The Aztecs answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring the game-winning run on a two-out error by Ram second baseman Robyn Mask.
Senior Cayte Billman started the game in the circle for the Rams and pitched 6.2 innings. She allowed only one earned run while striking out two Aztec batters.
Sophomore Rebecca Penland started the second game in the circle for the Rams and also helped her cause at the plate with a two-RBI double in the fourth inning to give the Rams a 2-1 lead.
San Diego State tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and took the lead in the following inning.
The Rams were unable to plate another runner and the Aztecs held on for the 3-2 victory.
Colorado State heads to Las Vegas for games Saturday and Sunday at UNLV. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT and Sunday's first pitch is set for 2 p.m. MT.
