Kempton tabbed as NGCA All-American Scholar

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State golfer Kayley Kempton on Wednesday was selected as a member of the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar team from the 2007-08 season.
“Kayley is the all-around student athlete,” said Head Coach Angie Hopkins. “She has worked extremely hard this season and I look forward to her future here at CSU.”
Kempton competed in all 11 tournaments as a freshman for the Rams in 2007-08 and was one of only three golfers to compete in all 32 rounds for the Rams. A business finance major from Littleton, Colo. (Heritage HS), Kempton ranked 15th in the MWC and third on the team with a stroke average of 77.63. She recorded a Top 10 finish at the Jeannine McHaney/Audrey Morehead Invitational, where she finished in a tie for ninth place with a three-round, season-low total of 228.
A total of 402 collegiate golfers were recognized, covering NCAA Division I, II and III. To be eligible for the award, a golfer must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and compete in half of the team’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
Kempton becomes the 12th recipient of the NGCA All-American Scholar award in Hopkins’ six seasons at Colorado State and extends a streak of honorees to 10 consecutive seasons.
