Next on the tee...
The Colorado State women’s golf team resumes play Monday and Tuesday in  the 11th annual Heather Farr /CU Memorial Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado.  The 54-hole tournament will be played at The Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield, Colo.  The tournament opens with 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 on Tuesday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. both days.

The Course...
The tournament will take place at the Omni Interlocken Resort’s Vista and Sunshine courses.  The par-72 course spans 6,211 yards.

The Field...
The tournament field consists of 19 of the top golf programs in the country, including a pair of in-state rivals in host Colorado, and Northern Colorado.  Five teams, including Colorado State (45), Notre Dame (19), Colorado (27) Georgia State (31) and Long Beach State (44) are ranked in the Golfweek Top 50.  The other teams participating are Boise State, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana State, Nevada, Portland State, San Diego State, Texas Tech, UC Davis and Weber State.

Rams’ lineup...
The Rams golfers set to compete in the tournament are Kasey Claussen, Cecilia Edlund, Stefanie Ferguson, Melissa Martin and Natalie Stone.  Freshman Brianna Espinoza will also compete in the tournament as an individual.

Forming a habit...
Dating back to the final two tournaments of 2007-08, the Colorado State women’s golf team has captured four consecutive top 10 finishes.  CSU kept the streak alive with a strong eighth-place showing at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, Sept. 7-8. and a fifth-place finish at the Dick McGuire Invitational, Sept. 18-20.

Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Recap...
Freshman Melissa Martin continued to impress early in her young career at CSU, ranking as the Rams’ top finisher, and senior Stefanie Ferguson roared back with a final-round 71 (-2), as the duo led the Rams to a top 5 finish.  Ferguson, who finished tied for 39th overall, played a large role in the Rams’ finish on Saturday, shooting a team-low round to keep rival Colorado one stroke behind CSU and seal the top 5 finish.  Ferguson, who opened her round on the sixth hole in the shotgun start, stormed out of the gates with birdies on three of her first five holes and never looked back en route to her lowest single-round score in her last 12.
