FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State women's golf Head Coach Angie Hopkins announced Wednesday the signing of three new players, Betsy Kelly, Sarah Roering and Christina Spinzig, to National Letters of Intent.

Kelly is a starter on the women's golf team at Forest Lake High School in Forest Lake, Minn.

"Betsy is an impressive athlete with the determination and natural ability to make an impact on our team," commented Hopkins. "She is self-taught and comes from a golfing family. Betsy is very competitive and we will definitely see her name in our lineup next year."

Kelly in 2009 won the Minnesota Class 3A state championship and also garnered first-team all-state honors (Minnesota Golf Association) in both 2008 and 2009. She had a stroke average of 75 upon completion of the 2009 season. Kelly also plays volleyball for her high school.

"I am really excited to come to CSU next fall and be a part of the team," said Kelly.

Sarah Roering

Roering, from Minnewaska, Minn., is the sister of freshman CSU women's golfer Emily Roering.

"Sarah is the all-around athlete," said Hopkins. "She has the swing and mindset to play at the Division I level. She is highly skilled and will be a great addition to our lineup in 2010."

In 2008, Roering was the Minnesota Class 2A state champion. She also earned first-team all-state honors (Minnesota Golf Association) in both 2008 and 2009. Her team at Minnewaska High School has won the state championship the past four years and can win a fifth crown this spring. Aside from golf, Roering also plays basketball and runs cross country.

Christina Spinzig

Spinzig, a Colorado native, finished tied for fourth out of 84 golfers at the Colorado's 2009 Class 4A state championship. A first-team all-conference selection the past three at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colo., she recently wrapped up her prep career with first-team all-state honors. A member of the Colorado Junior Golf Association's Academic All-Stars, Spinzig also excels in the classroom. Spinzig has also been on the honor roll for four years with a 4.0 GPA.

"Christina is the ideal student-athlete," commented Hopkins. "She has the strength and athleticism to compete at the Division I level. She is an outstanding student and will be an asset to us on and off the golf course."

The three new Rams will be joining the women's golf team in fall 2010.
