BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Rams more than doubled-up on Cal State Monterey Bay and beat Cal State East Bay a few hours later in an overtime thriller to improve to 3-1 on the weekend at the Roadrunner Invitational at the Hillman Aquatics Center on Sunday.

CSU played in the first game of the day, beating CSU Monterey Bay 11-5. Sarah Ostling and Kallie Berry each notched hat tricks and Ali Pavlik added two more in the win for the Rams (6-7, 4-0 Western Water Polo Association).

The excitement of the day came shortly after their first victory. CSU East Bay took the Rams all the way to sudden death before Pavlik came through with the game-winner. The Rams were pushed all game long in the 12-11 victory, which is not unusual against the Pioneers.

"East Bay always comes out and plays us tough," coach Mike Moody said.

The two wins on Sunday marked the second consecutive winning weekend for the Rams. Finishing with three wins was what the Rams were hoping for.

"We're really excited," Moody said. "Coming out of this tournament 3-1 was one of our expectations."

Moody believes that the team is starting to find that perfect balance between offense and defense, inside and out. This was showcased all weekend.

"Everybody contributed all weekend long," Moody said. "It was a total team effort."

CSU will return to the pool Saturday at the Sonoma State Invitational tournament in Rohnert Park, Calif.
