WACO, Texas - Playing on one of the longest courses that it has seen this season, the 6,347-yard Twin Rivers Golf Club, the Colorado State women's golf team is in 10th place through two rounds of action at the Baylor Spring Invitational.  Freshmen Brianna Espinoza and Melissa Martin carded strong rounds to keep the Rams in the hunt.

Illinois State leads the pack with a two-round team total of 615 (+39).  Host Baylor (+41) and New Mexico State (+43) closed Day 1 in second and third, respectively, while UTSA and Iowa are tied for fourth (+46).

"This course is playing really long," commented Head Coach Angie Hopkins.  "When you play a course this long, you have to have `good' misses, and today we didn't do that as well as we could have."

Espionoza and Martin are tied for 19th, each having fired a two-round total of 156.  Espinoza opened with a 5-over 77, and shot a 7-over 79 in her second round.  Martin got off to a slow start with an 81, but capped the first day of action with a 3-over 75.

Senior Stefanie Ferguson tallied scores of 77 (+5) and 80 (+8) to finish just one stroke off of the pace set by Espinoza and Martin in a tie for 27th.  Junior Kasey Claussen rounded out the scoring for the Rams with rounds of 81 and 84 and sits in a tie for 54th overall.  Sophomore Cecilia Edlund is tied for 76th with a 173 (+29).

Junior Natalie Stone, competing as an individual, is tied alongside Espinoza and Martin for 19th, after shooting rounds of 79 and 77.

The Rams will return to action in the final round on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 MT.  Live scoring is available on www.GolfStat.com.
