TUCSON, Ariz. – The Colorado State men’s golf team fired a 5-over par 581 on Sunday at the National Invitational Tournament, and sits in a three-way tie for eighth place through two rounds at OMNI Tucson National Golf Course.

Senior Zen Brown and junior Riley Arp are tied for 34th and 46th, respectively.  Brown shot rounds of 70 and 75 to close the day at 1-over, while Arp carded a 75 and a 72 to finish at 3-over par.

Junior Dustin Morris, who is coming off of his second career victory at the Barona Collegiate Cup, opened slowly with a 77 in Round 1.  He bounced back with a 1-under 71 in the second round and is tied for 53rd at 4-over par.  Freshman Zahkai Brown carded rounds of 77 and 74 and enters Monday’s final round tied for 67th with a 151 (+7).

Sophomore Ryan  Peterson, competing as an individual, is tied for 58th with rounds of 74 and 75 on the opening day of competition.

Mountain West Conference foes New Mexico and UNLV sit atop the team standings with scores of 16-under 560 and 13-under 563, respectively.  Host Arizona (-8) is tied for third with TCU, and Kent State (-4) rounds out the top 5.

Arizona’s Philip Bagdade and New Mexico’s Nick Geyer are tied for the individual lead at 7-under.

The Rams, who stormed back for a victory with a final-round score of 20-under at last week’s Barona Cup, will look to finish strong Monday in the final round in Tucson.  The third round tees off at 8:30 a.m.
