BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The CSU Rams water polo team lost its last two games of the Roadrunner Invite on Sunday to Cal State East Bay and Pacific, by scores of 8-7 and 9-4, at the Hillman Aquatics Center.
CSU (2-6,1-2 Western Water Polo Association) got two goals apiece from Sarah Ostling and Orsi Nadasdy against WWPA foe Cal State East Bay but could not come out on the right side of the one-goal game.
"We just didn't win," coach Mike Moody said. "(East Bay) is a much-improved team. We played OK but we just didn't win."
Then in an afternoon meeting, the Rams played their fifth game in 48 hours, against Pacific. CSU struggled to find offense and lost 9-4.
"We didn't show up mentally, emotionally or physically," Moody said. "We didn't do the things that we needed to do to win and they did."
Aspen Rapp and Caroline Young each scored twice in the loss.
Moody said that although this isn't the way that he wanted the weekend to end, he believes the team can turn things around as the season progresses.
"We're going to take it one period at a time, one game at a time," Moody said. "This week we will focus on what we need to work on."
The Rams will next head to Princeton, N.J., for four non-conference games against George Washington and Princeton on Saturday, and against Hartwick and Iona on Sunday.
