Rams at the Mountain West Conference championships...
Two Rams, Espinoza and Martin, posted top-10 finishes to lead the Colorado State women’s golf team to a fourth-place showing at the 2009 MWC championships, while Claussen and Head Coach Angie Hopkins were honored by the MWC at the postseason awards banquet.
Claussen was named to the nine-member MWC all-conference team for the first time in her career at Colorado State. Hopkins earned her second MWC Coach of the Year honor, having also earned the award in 2005.
Cowgirl Classic...
The Colorado State women’s golf team finished in third place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on April 6 at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
The Rams posted a team score of 294 (+6) for the first round, 312 (+24) for the second and a low 291 (+3) for the final round. The team’s three-round score came out to 897 (+33), putting the Rams in a tie for second place with Northern Arizona.
To break the tie, a scorecard playoff was held by comparing the fifth-place score of the third round. Stone had the high score of the round for CSU with a 77, which was three strokes higher than that of Northern Arizona, putting the Rams in third place out of 23 teams.
