The Colorado State women’s golf team was selected to compete at the NCAA West Regional May 6-8 in Stanford, Calif.
Competition will take place at Stanford Golf Course. This par-71 course, which was rated the third-best college course by GolfChannel in 2009, spans across 6,103 yards. Tee off begins at 9 a.m. MT.
The NCAA West Regional field includes Colorado State, UCLA, Alabama, Arizona, Ohio State, Virginia, Stanford, LSU, California, Texas A&M, Texas, UC Davis, Arkansas, UNLV, San Jose State, San Francisco, Idaho, UC Irvine, Iowa State, Maryland, Oral Roberts, Texas State, Pennsylvania and Portland State. Individuals competing include Amy Anderson (North Dakota State), Teresa Puga (Minnesota) and Ellen Mueller (Oklahoma).
The Rams’ lineup is Kasey Claussen, Natalie Stone, Melissa Martin, Brianna Espinoza and Emily Roering.

Rams at the NCAA regional...
This year marks the program’s first regional appearance since 2005. It will be the Rams’ fourth appearance overall at the NCAAs.
Coincidentally, Head Coach Angie Hopkins competed on the Stanford Golf Course in the NCAA West Regional during her senior year at New Mexico.
In 2005, Colorado State placed 15th with a score of 925.
Mountain West Conference championships...
The Colorado State women’s golf team placed third in the Mountain West Conference championship April 17. This marks the Rams’ highest finish at the MWC championship since 2006.
After posting a team score of 306 (+18) for the first round and a 302 (+14) for the second, the Rams shot a 306 (+18) for the final 18 holes. The team finished the tournament with a total score of 914 (+50).
Seniors Kasey Claussen and Natalie Stone were the top finishers for Colorado State. Claussen and Stone tied for sixth place with scores of 228 (+12). Claussen shot a 77 (+5) for Round 1, a 74 (+2) for Round 2 and a 77 (+5) for Round 3. Stone shot a 76 (+4) for Round 1, a 74 (+2) for Round 2 and a 78 (+6) for Round 3.
Along with her top-10 finish, Claussen earned a spot on the 2009-10 all-Mountain West Conference team.
