Women's golf recap: Rams conclude play at Ptarmigan

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's golf team was unable to hold off its competitors in the third round, finishing sixth in the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic Tuesday.
The victory went to Colorado with a team score of 865, two strokes ahead of Cal (867), followed by Oregon (872), Louisville (873), Baylor (874) and the Rams (877). New Mexico (880), Long Beach State (884), Fresno State (889) and Illinois (891) rounded out the top 10 teams in the 17-team tournament.
"I am extremely proud of these young Rams," said Head Coach Angie Hopkins. "Every one of them played their hearts out. We are so thankful to all of the wonderful Ptarmigan and Birdie Club members for their sincere and generous support."
Kayla Mortellaro of Idaho shot a 207 (-9) to earn medalist honors. Brianna Espinoza was the top finisher for the Rams, tying for eighth with a score of 215 (-1). Sarah Roering, who aced a par-3 in the second round ended the day tied for 16th (218). Cecilie Krefting finished in the midde of the pack tied for 40th (225) and both Emily Roering and Betsy Kelly ended the tournament tied for 46th (227).
Christina Spinzig, who played in the tournament as an individual, tied in 83rd place with a three-round score of 242.
Next, the Rams enjoy a short break before heading to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Friday and Saturday.
