BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Colorado State women's golf team closed out an otherwise successful fall season on a low note Wednesday at the 16-team Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Rams finished 16th with a three-round total of 928.
UC Davis (869) walked away with the championship, winning by 15 strokes. San Diego State and Pepperdine finished second at 864 (+20). Oklahoma (890) finished fourth. UC Irvine, Louisville and tournament host UNLV tied for fifth (891).
The individual champion was Grace Na of Pepperdine at 7 under (209). Na was followed by Kayla Mortellaro (-5) of Idaho, Jessica Chulya (-4) and Bev Vatananugulkit (-2) of UC Davis and Noelle Zavaleta (-1) of Long Beach State.
For the Rams, Brianna Espinoza finished with a 226 (+10). Betsy Kelly carded a 229 (+13). Sarah Roering shot a 234 (+18) and Jessa LaBarbera scored a 239 (+23). Emily Roering did not play in the final round.
CSU has nearly four months before its next tournament. The team will head back to Nevada to compete at the UNLV Spring Invitational on Feb. 20.
