Women's golf recap: Rams finish tournament in eighth

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Colorado State women's golf team finished its final round at the UNLV Spring Invitational in eighth place at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Head Coach Angie Hopkins was proud of her teams performance on Wednesday.
"This young group has the talent to make a big impact on our program," commented Hopkins. "They showed us this today."
The Rams fought hard in the final round scoring a team total of 294 (+6), finishing the final day with an overall team total of 902 (+38).
In first place is Pepperdine, who scored a team total of 281 (-7) in Round 3, finishing with an overall team total of 844 (-20). In second place is BYU, which scored and overall team total of 858 (-6), followed by Oklahoma, who scored an overall team total of 863 (-1). Tied for first place are Brigham Young's Kelsey Vines, and Pepperdine's Danielle Kang. Both girls scored an overall total of 206 (-10).
CSU junior Brianna Espinoza led the Rams on Wednesday scoring a total of 73 (+1) in Round 3, finishing the final day with an overall total of 219 (+3). Espinoza tied for 16th on the final day remaining in the Top-20.
"I am extremely proud of Brianna and her 16th place finish," stated Hopkins. "There were a lot of top ranked teams at UNLV and Brianna held her own."
Second for the Rams was freshman Betsy Kelly. Kelly scored an overall total of 224 (+8) in the final round, placing her tied for 30th. In third for the Rams was sophomore Emily Roering who scored an overall total of 226 (+10), followed by freshman Sarah Roering who scored an overall total of234 (+18).
"What a day for this young team," added Hopkins. "Brianna, Betsy, and Sarah all hit 67% of their greens and Emily was 89% greens in regulation.
