Rams announce another addition to 2014-15 roster

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Looking to continue improving the Colorado State women's basketball program, Head Coach Ryun Williams made another addition to the 2014-15 roster Tuesday. This time in the form of 6 foot, 4 inches center Alana Arias.

Arias, a transfer from Palm Beach State, will come to CSU from Palm Beach State in Lake Worth, Fla., where she is currently a sophomore on the Panthers roster. In her freshman year with the Panthers, Arias started in 25 of 28 games played, averaging 12.7 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and she shot a field-goal percentage of 54.8. In her 2013-14 season thus far, the sophomore currently averages 9.0 points and 4.6 boards per game.

"Alana is a very talented post player," commented Williams. "She has nice skill inside and is also very comfortable playing on the perimeter for 6-4. She will fit nicely with how we play, and comes to us from a highly respected junior college program at Palm Beach State and coach Kris Ruffo."

Over the summer, Arias played for the Brazilian national team in the World Championships Under-19 division. Against powerhouse China, Arias recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and shot a phenomenal 4-of-4 from the field, and 2-of-2 from the line, and against the Canadian team she recorded eight points, an impressive 11 rebounds, and two assists.

Arias attended Liberty Chirstian Academy in Lynchburg, Va., where she averaged 13.7 points, 2.8 assists, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. In her high school career she recorded 16 double-doubles, and she had 32 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in LCA's state quarterfinal win over Norfolk.
