SEAL BEACH, Calif. - The Colorado State women's golf team sits in fourth place through two rounds of The Gold Rush, shooting an 18-over 594 on Day 1 of the tournament. The Rams are tied with No. 25 BYU, and only trail No. 1 USC, Fresno State and host Long Beach State in the 15-team field.

Of the 81 players, CSU freshman Katrina Prendergast is in position for her second top-20 finish of the season. She leads the team with a 3-over 147 (T-12th), including a par-72 during Round 2. Sophomore Allie Andersen is three strokes behind Prendergast, carding a 6-over 150 - including a 1-over 73 in Round 1 - followed by juniors Elisabeth Rau and Brianna Becker (8-over 152) and sophomore Sarah Archuleta (9-over 153). Senior Riley Leming is competing as an individual, carding an 81 in both rounds (18-over 162).

"We had a great first round," head coach Annie Young said. "We leaked a little oil coming in. There was a lot of good golf today. I'd like us to play a complete round tomorrow and see where we end up."

Through the first round, CSU was tied for second place, and only trailing USC, the No. 1 team in the nation. The Rams shot a 6-over 284, led by Archuleta's par-72. Overall, CSU had 114 pars (second-most in the field), 19 birdies and an eagle by Rau.

USC, which shot a 5-under 571, holds the top four spots in the individual rankings and five of the top six. The Trojans hold a 16-stroke lead over Fresno State (11-over 587). The Rams are two strokes behind Long Beach State (18-over 594) and are ahead of Sacramento State (31-over 607), Cal Poly (32-over 608), Boise State (32-over 608), Nevada (33-over 609), Gonzaga (34-over 610), Cal State Fullerton (47-over 623), Idaho (48-over 624), Boston College (50-over 626), Ole Miss (50-over 626) and UC Irvine (51-over 627).

The teams will play a final round Tuesday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. Live stats can be tracked through GolfStat.
