FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State Athletics hosted Ram Jam Wednesday evening at Moby Arena, CSU's largest community outreach event which is now in its 20th year. With more than 1,000 in attendance, the event allowed the youth of Fort Collins the opportunity to meet and interact with some of their favorite CSU student-athletes. Ram Jam was sponsored by The Group Real Estate.
Various stations and activities were set up all throughout Moby Arena and were run by members of each of CSU's 16 varsity athletic squads. Children were given the opportunity to try on equipment, run through drills unique to certain sports and get their memorabilia signed from players. Prizes and food were also given out throughout the event, thanks to many sponsors.
"It's super awesome, especially because all of the sports are here" said CSU volleyball player Cassidy Denny. "It gives everyone in the community a really good sense of CSU Athletics. It's super cool that we can do this, and the kids have a great time. You get kids of all age groups; ones that are really little and others that are bigger and know more. They're super willing to learn and get to know who we are. We do something similar after our games with kids coming onto the court after to get autographs and stuff and they love it, so I love it."
Added CSU men's golf coach Christian Newton: "It's awesome for my guys to see how many Rams fans there are. It's a fun event that allows us to interact and connect with the kids here in town."
