STANFORD, Calif. - Colorado State golfer Katrina Prendergast finished in 33rd place during her first NCAA Regional appearance, carding a 10-over 223 over the three-day tournament which was played at the prestigious Stanford Golf Course. The freshman led the 96-player field one-third of the way through the tournament, carding a three-under 68 during Day 1 on Thursday. She had a 9-over 80 during Round 2 on Friday before rebounding with a 4-over 75 during Saturday's concluding round.

Prendergast's performance was CSU's second-best ever, trailing only Natalie Stone in 2010, who placed 27th when the Rams competed as a team at the West Regional in Stanford. Prendergast had 12 birdies over the 54-hole tournament, including one on Saturday. She birdied Hole 4, needing just two shots to sink the shot.

Prendergast, competing as an individual, had seven birdies on Thursday compared to three on Friday. She shot seven strokes over par on the front nine, starting the day with three consecutive bogeys. She finished strong, however, carding a 2-over on the back nine, including an even-par 32 over the final eight holes.

Prendergast, who was competing as an individual, was CSU's first representative since Brianna Espinoza in 2012. Her fantastic freshman season included a second-place finish at the Mountain West Championship in April and a spot on the All-Mountain West second team. Her season stroke average of 73.69 is a school record. She also tied a school record with a 5-under 67 during the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in October, and finished the tournament with a 6-under 210, the third-best tournament score in school history. She posted top-20 finishes in each of her past six tournaments, and seven times overall, and led the Rams in seven of nine tournaments this season.

As a team, CSU's season stroke average of 297.72 in 2015-16 is a school record by more than four strokes. The Rams also set a school record with a 15-under 849 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and had four of the top-10 single-round scores in CSU history this season.

Among the 96 golfers competing in the West Regional, 23 were ranked in the top 100 by GolfStat, including three ranked in the top 15. Of the 18 teams participating, the field included 13 top-50 teams including No. 2 USC, No. 12 Stanford, No. 31 Ohio State, No. 45 North Carolina, No. 7 Arkansas and No. 15 Virginia - who each advanced to the NCAA Championship later this month in Eugene, Ore.
