The Colorado State women's golf team tees off on Sept. 12 to begin its 2016-17 season, the fourth under the guidance of head coach Annie Young. The Rams' first tournament will be their lone home competition of the season, hosting the Ptarmigan Ram Classic for the 20th year in a row.
From there, the Rams will play in four other fall tournaments, including one hosted by the University of Denver Oct. 7-9. CSU will also travel to San Jose, Calif. (Sept. 19-20), Greenville, N.C. (Oct. 17-18) and Las Vegas, Nev. (Oct. 23-25). A year ago, CSU set a school record at the UNLV tournament in Las Vegas, carding a 15-under 849.
The Rams' spring season begins Feb. 27 with back-to-back trips to the Golden State, playing in tournaments hosted by Long Beach State (Feb. 27-28) and San Francisco (March 6-7). The Rams will once again play in the MountainView Collegiate (March 10-12), in addition to the Bryan National in Browns Summit, N.C. (March 31-April 2) and a tournament in Tulsa, Okla. (April 10-11).
The 2017 Mountain West Championship will again be held in Rancho Mirage, Calif. NCAA Regionals, -- which CSU sent an individual to in 2016 - will be held at one of four pre-determined sites May 8-10, preceding the 2017 NCAA Championships, May 19-24, in Sugar Grove, Ill.
CSU had one of its strongest years ever in 2015-16, recording a season stroke average of 297.72, a school record by more than four strokes. In addition to the tournament school record set in Las Vegas, the Rams also had four of the top-10 single-round scores in CSU history this past year. CSU returns All-Mountain West performer Katrina Prendergast, who competed at NCAA Regionals as a freshman, in addition to three of its other four top performers. Among its signing class are prep sensations Ellen Secor and Jessica Sloot, who competed together at the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball last month in Florida.
