CSU reveals new helmets for bowl game
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Colorado State Rams' bowl trip began early Wednesday morning, as they landed in Albuquerque N.M., to prepare for Saturday's Gildan New Mexico Bowl against the Marshall Thundering Herd. The team touched down shortly after 10 a.m. and headed directly to the University of New Mexico's campus for practice and media availability from Coach Bobo and select players.
Some big news came right before the beginning of practice, as the team revealed new helmets for the bowl game. The new lids have a white base with a metallic green, bone-style horn.
CSU conducted practice on the New Mexico Lobos' practice fields adjacent to the stadium. The team had an early wake-up call this morning, holding team meetings and eating breakfast in Fort Collins before flying into Albuquerque.
"[Practice was] better than I would've thought," junior linebacker Josh Watson said. "Everyone was flying around, making plays, competing, challenging guys. We were out there having fun and doing what we do best."
Following practice, the Rams checked in to the team hotel and had a bit of free time before a welcoming address from the bowl staff and a brief team meeting. At the meeting, Director of Student-Athlete Support Services Sara Ray honored select players for their academic achievements, all of which can be seen below. Coach Bobo also announced seniors Jake Bennett, Evan Colorito, Dalyn Dawkins and Nick Stevens as the team's season captains, selected by vote of their teammates.
